It was the perfect balance of riding, exploring ancient temples and tombs, and cruising the Nile on a beautiful Dahabiya! Annmarie and her team ensured that we were able to experience Egyptian culture while having excellent accommodations and meal experiences! Our private tour guide in Answan/Luxor was not only extremely knowledgeable about ancient Egyptian history and mythology, he was passionate about it! The horses were fabulous - light, responsive, and very adept at navigating the busy streets of Luxor. All the horses are rescues, and the team there has done an incredible job nursing them back to health. The horses are calm, friendly, and well cared for. If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend this place. A wondrous experience, some of the best moments of my 2024 and perhaps my life too! My husband and I were originally only supposed to do a 2-day trek with camping in the desert but I ended up booking an additional 3 rides on different days, as I could not get enough! H&H did a fantastic job of catering to my requirements and offering a brilliant holiday. Annemarie was clear in her communication style and never made me feel that any request was too big, helping to organise transfers and tours tailored to our specifications and other plans. Guides, transfers and activity scheduling was very punctual and the service offered was professional. The selection of horses is broad, and Annmarie was able to select horses to suit our needs. She kept us informed of any quirks and specific ways to ride them. They do some important horse rescue work too and it was valuable to see in person how well-cared for the horses are at the stables. We rode Crystal, Leila and Warda, they were sweet natured and fun to ride. The guides and team were all so lovely and made us feel right at home! They also organised some great archaeology sessions with Ahmed, taking us to visit the Ramesseum and Deir el-Medina. Ahmed offered great explanations about the sites too and was engaging in his delivery of some fascinating facts and stories. Nobi, our horse riding guide, rescued a jacket that went flying off me when I was galloping, made us feel very safe and reassured and showed us some of his favourite places. He is kind and is a great rider. Luxor is really a stunning place, comprising of amazing landscapes, history and magical sites. H&H does a fantastic job of bringing it altogether alongside horses. The desert camping was magical too, we were able to see such a beautiful night sky and just see an endless horizon of sand and rock. Amazing horses, they were completely bomb proof, well behaved, healthy and well cared for. Prince was perhaps one of the most dreamy horses I have ridden. Annemarie ensured they were perfectly suited to our experience and the type of horse we wanted to ride along with making us feel welcome and answering all our questions and catering to our needs. Camping in the desert was a highlight. We had amazing food throughout our stay in Luxor and saw amazing historical sights with knowledgeable guides. Originally, I booked a 2-day trek with camping in the desert (with my husband). However, I resolved to booking a three more rides, as it was just too irresistible. Horses and Hieroglyphs did a brilliant job of tailoring to my needs, giving me a smashing holiday. In planning the trip, I was in discussions with Annemarie, who was clear and accommodating, as well as upbeat and positive, getting me excited about the trip. You can tell the culture of the place is warm and welcoming and they make you feel like it is a second home. They were able to help with transfers and advice for my time in Egypt, everything was very punctual and professional. Annmarie was so helpful and able to select horses to suit our riding preferences and ability. She was able to also explain how certain horses may be best ridden, such as any quirks.The horses are so well-cared for and you can see in person how important the rescue and rehabilitation work is to the company. We had the pleasure of riding sweet natured horses Crystal, Leila and Warda. The guides were all so lovely and fantastic! We also got the chance to go on a private tour with Ahmed, with visits to the Ramesseum and Deir el-Medina. Ahmed is a great sense of humour and is very knowledgable.Nobi, our horse riding guide, made us feel safe and was helpful, kind and enthusiastic. He showed us some of his favourite places and shared his love of Luxor. Also my jacket went flying off in a gallop and he quickly went to rescue it!The desert camping was truly magical too, and we had delicious food prepared by Azeb and Jerhead, who told us fun stories by the camp fire. Eating under the stars and seeing epic desert landscapes made the trip feel like an unreal dream. The entire trip from start to finish was INCREDIBLE!! We saw the pyramids and sphinx up close and from a very unique perspective because we rode on horseback around the area. The horses were gentle and our guide very nice. We went on guided tours of museums, tombs, temples with very well educated and well spoken guides. We really enjoyed learning about the Egyptian history and seeing it close up. The horse riding experience in Luxor was a combination of exhilarating and peaceful. The views were amazing and we always felt very safe and taken care of. This really was the trip of a lifetime! Action packed and filled with fun things to do; shopping, sightseeing, horse back riding, camel riding, boat ride on the Nile, great food and we made friends along the way. It was my first riding holiday and they catered to my needs; by the end of it, I’d become so much better and so much more confident. All of the guides and workers at Horses & Hieroglyphics are very dedicated to their work and the horses are well looked after. The itinerary is well planned but if you need anything changed or tweaked to suit your needs, they are very accommodating. I had been to Luxor before, but I had not had the opportunity to see it in such detail as I got to see it on this trip.
